Doodlezine

Dodlezine is also like DoodlePlanet, as it is another situation where I am asked to doodle for a purpose, and not just for my own benefit. This encourages me to work on my doodles and improve my doodles, with the prospect of them having a future purpose. Improving my doodling wll improve my drawing, and therefore improve my chances of gaining work.

Doodleplanet

These images are from DoodlePlanet, the monthly event held at Telfords Warehouse in Chester. It goes to show that doodling is considered by many to a legitimate way of illustrating and not just procrastinating. Some of the regulrs that attend are in fact working illustrators, and it is clear to see that doodling does feature withing their professional work. This is one ting that is encouraging me to doodle a lot more and worry less about what the image is for. It is good to see the slight cross over between illustrating and Fine Art.

Vintage Packaging

Something i was struggling with in my work was colour, and i tended to stic to black, white and greys. Looking for slutions to this, i began to look into vintage packaging, and this has helped me. These particular colours i used on an image i created of the late Serge Gainsbourg, an edited version of the one i created for Jonathan Edwards, Draw Serge! blog.

Eboy

And someone i have been familiar with for a while. I am an admirer of Eboys pixellated style, something i have dabbled in myself for my communicatins brief, and a competition brief for my negotiated studies.

Marc Bell

Somebody who i have only recently become aware of, but like a lot. His work is very similar to the way i worked for my Doodlezine issue 3 submission. Brilliant!

Doodleplanet-ing

Doodleplanet is the excellent drawing experience that takes place at Telfords Warehouse in Chester. I have only been going since the beginning of first year, but already i feel it has improved my way of working, by looking at the bigger picture. Big thanks to Dave Setter for putting it on for us!
